Odd phone call

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Received a call this morning. Called me by my daughter's name and said they were calling about my bill with them.

My 16 yr. old does not have an account with them and neither do I. They referenced my current provider, I affirmed, yes, that is my provider and I just paid the bill in my name, on time, yesterday. They asked for my information so they could correct the invoice.

I asked what invoice. Was told maybe it was a duplicate. (In a different name) Kept trying to get me to give them my info.

Told them I would call them back after I saw an actual invoice. They are (yeah right) going to mail it to me.

They are in RI now ,Clearview energy scam .

They are going door to door preying on uninformed . My parents don't speak on a native english .

This did not stop them, they pressured my parents to switch providers without understanding anything . My parents told me that they would get electricity at a low rate. That was a lie, how can you lock in rates for a year . After signing up, they called me to look it over . One google search later ,found many complaints and how they are a scam.

Lucy for me there is a three day grace period where you can cancel it. They told me you can't cancel it same day so I have to wait 24 hours.

Do it buddy. They did the same thing to me.

My mother was by herself in the house. Luckily, the electricity account is under my name, so she called me, because nothing could be done unless they were speaking with the account holder. I ended up switching, but everything happened so fast. The guy that showed up at my house said it was National Grid switching suppliers, so they were just there to confirm my info.

And I was speaking to my father, and he said their rates might be cheaper at first, but after three months, the rates "might increase to the same rate as NG or more expensive."

So I called today and cancelled.

Especially since the lady that called me to do the switch explained everything so fast. I didn't like that.

Why are these people at my door with a vague proposal?

Mine finally gave me her identification, but asked me what possible questions I had for her and WHY I was asking. She was definitely aggressive, despite my appearing in hospital scrubs and having informed me that I was just home from the hospital after surgery for a kidney stone. She mentioned that wind energy was a factor in providing my energy and that it would save me money. I was told that the purpose of her using my information was for deregulating the industry. I would like to know some information before I proceed, but she said she didn't need me to sign anything. So can someone tell me why she was at my door?

She was at your door to try and get you to switch your electricity supplier to Clearview. Your utility will deliver your electricity, but you have a choice of suppliers, including the Standard offer, at about 6.44 cents per kilowatt-hour, and any one of many other competitive suppliers, including Clearview.

Anyone thinking of switching their electricity supplier should read ALL the fine print when they sign up, including the "welcome letter" that they get after signing up. Many of them lure you in with a low introductory price in hopes that when your contract runs out, you won't bother to renew and they switch you to a very expensive month-to-month rate.

Buyer beware!

These companies usually *** you into their service with a low rate that lasts but one year and then sky rockets. You don't say how long you have been with them but you need to examine any contract you signed with them looking at length of contract, rates, etc. and go from there to see if you can just switch back to your usual energy company.

They tried, and they failed

Two young people knocking at my door (seems they don't get the doorbell concept), stating they are here to prevent a supplier increase. Told them I am all set, she says "Were you here last year?", and I replied "Yes I was, and I was all set then too." They both shook their heads as they walked away.

Perhaps my being 6'3" and 280 had something to do with them giving up so quickly, as compared to the other stories on here, but I trust my gut, and my gut flagged them as scammers. Sure enough, a quick Google search, and here we are.

Go away children, and don't come back. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

Clearview deceptive price protection scam

I had a clearview person come by my door yesterday. He lead me to believe clearview was already my energy provider and they were going to provide me with price protection (And I was *** enough to fall for it) but instead switched my energy provider to clearview.

This was after he assured me multiple times he was not changing my bill, just providing price protection.

After reading the online reviews, I immediately called up and cancelled, which they did for me without a problem. Luckily no money wasted, just time...

Those door to door salespeople generally work for a third party direct sales marketing company. They work on 100% commission only (no hourly pay or benefits).

They are desperate to makes sales because otherwise, they won't have money to even buy a burger from the McDonalds $1 menu. Use as a learning experience: don't answer the door to strangers, don't speak to them and warn all your friends, family and neighbors.

Clearview aggression

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
The salesperson walked right into my house and I had to throw her out. What part of no solicitation don't these people understand? They cannot take no for an answer and come multiple times. They were in our mobile home part last week too. Since I have to have 80 words to post this I will just repeat that Clearview Energy salespeople and tactics are outrageous, almost as bad as requiring me to write eighty words to get this message across to readers.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I came home from work and my lights was off, so services was disconnected for $35.00.

I have never in my life heard of a company disconnected your services for $35.00 The customer service rep told me to pay the 35.00 and services would be connected and a reconnect fee. Wow!

Payment arrangement amounts are figured by the total of what is owed AT THE TIME OF THE ARRANGEMENT.

They split it up in equal parts over 6, 8, 10, or 12 months

Then you faithfully pay the regular monthly bill , as-well-as the arrangement amount that was split up.

Nobody & I mean NOBODY gets on a payment arrangement and then misses a payment & thinks they can just add the past bill to the total amount.

Because that screws up the payment arrangement amount that was originally figured.

You owed a bill and made a promise to pay on an arrangement, then you reneged on it.

Then the first month you get a bill you blame them for shutting you off for that little bit. It's obvious you don't pay your bills on time, and when they get out of control it becomes their fault not yours.

You were shut off because you owe a hundred & eleven bucks. Face it

Review in Utility category from Fall River, Massachusetts

With so many scams out there I did not appreciate a "shady looking character" knocking on my door asking to see my gas bill. If this is a real company try hiring people a little more professional. I don't want to sound like a snob and I know people are just trying to work, but there's so many scammers knocking on people's doors then they either get literally robbed in their house or it's a scam that takes all your money from you bank account and also take your identity. Send something in the mail so people can respond that way or politely recycle the papers so they don't have to shut the door on a stranger.

Rude salesperson

I was outside in my driveway in Middletown RI when I saw a man across the street with a clipboard. He yelled something to me from across the street so I yelled back that I really didn't feel like talking today.

Then he said "what are you an ***" I asked him if he had a solicitors license and he showed me his nametag instead so I crossed the street and read his name tag Jeffrey Rosenberg Clearview Energy.

I then called Middletown Police and am currently calling his company but have been on hold for 20 minutes!! I would never do business with this company who hires rude and disrespectful employees!!

A solicitor knocked on my door and manipulated her way inside our apartment. She tricked us into thinking we would get a lower energy rate and we were conned into switching our energy service provider. After she finally left we tried to call and cancel/withdraw our forced agreement but was just put on hold and told repeatedly to call tomorrow!! What a scam!!!

Clearview unable to credit you for payment and will harrass you endlessly for being a good customer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Consumer be warned - I had no problems with bait and switch or incorrect billing. We were glad to sign up for inexpensive green energy. That said, getting credit for paying our bills on time has been a nightmare, and a huge time suck, and I've never been happier to switch to another company who cares and can perform their basic functions. I pay electronically through my bank. Turns out Clearview (unlike any other company doing business today) takes 2 weeks or more to find out from their own bank that you've paid, and in the meantime calls and adds late fees. So I tried mailing them a check, and same thing. A supervisor told me she wouldn't waive the late fee because their fine print tells you they have 2 weeks to process payments. Here's an example from my latest bill - I got a bill on 11/23. It's due 12/7, 2 weeks later. So Clearview expects you to pay the bill the day you receive it. Otherwise, late fees for you and don't expect anyone to care. That is completely out of line, and probably illegal. I have called and emailed and no one cares, and the issues don't get resolved. (Two emails were ignored, and the supervisor cut me off and hung up.) I had to stop payment on a check at my bank ($32) and provide Clearview with a credit card, or they threatened to shut off power that day - despite knowing I'd spoken to them and emailed them and they knew I'd paid and on time! So much hassle and aggravation - not to mention attitude - from an organization that blames the victim. Be forewarned - stay AWAY.

Clearview Supplier

I have been a customer of Clearview from 9/2015 - 2/2016 for their Supply Services.. I had questions about my bill and their prices. I spoke with a Rep.in (TX)He told me that NG (R.I.)canceled my services due to non payment . I told them that was not true. I called NG and they said they would never do that. I truly believe NG would not do this. I would like a copy of this statement from Clearview to get the truth. I wonder how many consumers are being mislead by Clearview??
